Hello First Grade parents, guardians and students. My name is Lauren Norberg and I am one of the teachers here at Angel Oak in classroom 1-4. I am a transplant to Charleston after finishing my schooling in upstate NY, and love it! I completed my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education at the State University of NY at Cortland, and then completed my Masters Degree in Literacy at The College of Saint Rose. This is my second year here at AOES and I couldn't be happier. I look forward to creating a fun learning environment and getting to know all of you.
If there are any questions or comments feel free to contact me via phone, email, or note. If you would like to stop in to volunteer please contact me as well.
There will be a lot of reading in our classroom this year and I would like to share with you that my favorite book is The Lorax by Dr. Seuss.
Helpful tips for a successful 1st grade year:
Homework: We will have homework every night in most subjects. Math- Lesson page, Spelling-Practice spelling words. Each week our spelling homework will be the same. It is essential that you and your child work every night to complete the homework. This is how we see growth and assess progress. Homework is further described on my Homework Tab.
Be Prepared: Come to school with Homework folder, agenda, and journals everyday.
Follow Rules: Students are expected to follow all school rules and classroom Code of Conduct. The 3 R's; Ready, Responsible, and Respectful. In addition be kind to one another, and my most important classroom rules are to try your BEST, and have FUN.
Communicate: I sincerely ask that we keep all lines of communication open. Send notes back to school in the folder or agenda, and I will respond as quickly as I can. Also if I need to contact any of you please be sure that I have up to date phone numbers or emails.
1-4's Code of Conduct 2013-14
1. Be nice and Respectful to everyone
2. Listen and follow directions
3. Raise your hand to speak and do not interrupt
4. ALWAYS try your BEST
5. Keep your hands to yourself
1-4's Shared Vision
In our classroom we want to feel safe and make new friends.
To be a WISE OWL I will listen to my teacher, follow directions,
and always try my BEST...at AOES!
