Hello Angel Oak Families!
We are at the end of the first quarter and the year is off to a fantastic start! Don't forget to check out our class Twitter page (@3rdgradewithMsI). Come and see some of the exciting things happening in 3rd grade and around Angel Oak Elementary!

10/20: No School: Parent Data Conference
10/23- 10/27: Red Ribbon Week
10/23: Community Planning Presentation and STEM event (1pm: a special project during school for kiddos!)
10/27: Fire Prevention Visit from St. Johns Fire Department @1pm
10/31:Character Parade

 
Academics:
These are the units we will be studying during the next few weeks of school:

  • Math: Place value, addition, subtraction, word problems
  • Reading: Building a Reading Life and Characters
  • Writing: Narrative writing
  • Science: Electricity and Magnetism unit wrap-up
  • Social Studies: Regions of South Carolina

Weekly Homework Assignments:
Students are assigned homework nightly Monday -Thursday. 
Homework will be in both math and reading and is written in the student agenda.

Communication:
Communication is very important to me. Student agendas are checked daily and notes to me may be written inside. Please contact me anytime, and I will be happy to meet with you. The quickest way to reach me is by email, but you may also contact me by school phone. 



Resources

  • Our class participates in Scholastic Reading Book Club. Our class code is NLHM9. Go to clubs.scholastic.com to place your class orders online.  
  • We use several apps and programs that are available for home practice as well. Feel free to use these resources to extend learning at home. Contact me for your child's password information.
