Teacher Librarian: Ms. Schumacher

Me and my son

Welcome to the Angel Oak Media Center! This is my seventh year here at Angel Oak.  Prior to teaching here, I was a Teacher Librarian in New York for ten years.  I am originally from Port Jefferson, New York where I received my Bachelor's degree in Human Relations.  I continued my education on Long Island and went on to receive two Masters' degrees in Elementary Education and Library Science.  I relocated to Charleston in 2011.  I am the proud mother of a four year old boy.  Besides spending time with my son, I enjoy reading, traveling and going to the beach.  My favorite children's book is Corduroy.

Students come to the Media Center once a week for a 45 minute class.  The class time consists of research based lessons and literature appreciation.  Students return to the media center later in the week for a fifteen minute book exchange with their teacher.  Please feel free to visit the media center anytime and have a wonderful year reading together!

"I must say I find television very educational.  The minute somebody turns it on, I go to the library and read a good book."
